Everyone, meet Brendan! This LA Laner of the Week has roots in Houston, Texas! He's one of those actor-creative types we know and love! With seven years of experience in the service industry, dating back to his first job as a costumed actor in Houston, he's worked various types of events, from local fairs to birthday parties to museum meet-and-greets! What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?
I like working events because they break up the monotony that comes with most other jobs. They're always gonna be different; different clientele, different scale, different location.. The Mustard Lane events, specifically, are some of the most fun events out there. They're always super different and diverse. For my first Mustard Lane event, I got to do arts and crafts at a toy store for half of the day, which was a very fun surprise!
Favorite restaurant or food?
The Window in Silver Lake (best burger in LA!)
You've accomplished Laner of the Week. Any other goals for 2024?
I'd like to finish the final draft of a project I've been writing, and continue expanding outside of my comfort zone.
What's your favorite place or travel experience?
I visited Yosemite for the first time last year and it's now one of my favorite places on Earth. Beautiful. Majestic. Serene. Epic. A truly enchanting place.
What's your favorite way to spend a day off as a Laner?
I'm pretty simple. Spending time with my little family is my favorite thing to do. Maybe catching a movie too. :)
What music are you listening to these days?
Since it's been fall, I've been on an indie-folk kick. A lot of Lord Huron, Fleet foxes, Sufjan Stevens. And a lot of 70's
What's your hidden talent?!
I've got a lot of these whacky character voices in my repertoire that always seem to make people laugh. I can do a few impressions as well.
What's an essential part of your daily Laner routine?
Skincare! Gotta keep this money-maker looking fresh!
What's a brand or event that you would love to represent or work should the chance ever arise?
This is a tough one! Movie premieres are always cool. Honestly, I just like experiencing new things, so I'm along for whatever is next and don't really have a preference here. Surprise me, Mustard Lane!
What inspires you most?
I'm the most inspired when I see other people really go for it without letting the fear of failure stop them (no matter how prevalent the fear might be). There's a popular quote by Maggie Kuhn that goes, "Speak your truth, even if your voice shakes". I think that quote embodies this well.
