You know about The Shop, right? No? Then we’re guessing you also didn’t know that LeBron James just dropped a line of grooming products, didja?! Well. Now ya do. And, after their pop-up in SoHo, NYC last week, we figure a lot more people know now too!
The Origin Story
Perhaps you do know of the HBO show called, “The Shop.” This series featured LeBron James and Maverick Carter as they had conversations with a variety of celebrity guests, all taking place in a barbershop! LeBron has been quoted, “when I was a kid, being in barbershops meant listening to adults talk about sports, clothing, politics, music, everything happened in the shop. It was so real and so candid — no one had a sense of, well I can’t be myself here.” And this is the heart of the show!
Well, a few years later, and now LeBron and Maverick have created a line of grooming/skincare products to bring this barbershop approach to the world! And when it came time to have a really fun and interactive pop-up in downtown Manhattan, Laners were there to see it through.
So…please tell us about this fancy pop-up!
This was a big one!
We had a team of seventeen Laners at this pop-up! And it was a long day, filled with a press opening, hours available to the public, and then a private party. The Shop featured free samples of their face wash and hydrating lotion, and a free cold brew. There were also free haircuts by two well-known barbers! Upstairs, there was a really cool video/photo opp, as well as a personalized, monogram fanny pack giveaway. Oh, and did we mention that you could also use one of the bathrooms to try the face wash right then and there?! Pretty cool stuff.
What were some of the Laners’ duties and responsibilities?
Laners were there to guide the guests through, from entrance to exit! Some were stationed outside the door, letting passersby know about the experience. Others were just inside, ready to welcome visitors with a smile. Whether you needed more information about the brand itself, or needed to sign in for your free haircut, our Laners were there for you. On the second level, Laners got to have some extra fun by cheering on and coaching guests as they stepped into the video opportunity! And by night, as the space turned into a private event for the brand, our staff were there to answer questions, help take photos and guide people towards the action. There really isn’t anything a Laner isn’t capable of. The Shop’s Pop-Up went off without a hitch, thanks to our incredible, enthusiastic team!
Ok, so where do I get The Shop products?!
The Shop collection includes seven products! All of them are priced at $9.97, in an effort to create a grooming line that is accessible to all. You’ll find a 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner, an exfoliating face wash and aftershave toner. But there’s also: hydrating facial lotion, deep-conditioning beard cream, soothing shave cream, and a styling pomade. You can buy them physically in 1,600 Walmart locations across the US and online!
