Our Laner of the week is Yuli! She was born in Mexico, lived in CA for most of her life, but has been living in Kansas City for the last seven years! She loves cycling, Yoga, being active and reading. She has a full time job working for a health insurance company and work events as a hobby. She’s been working events for over sixteen years now and has no plan to stop! And we quote: “I’d give up my full time job before I gave up events.” She definitely keeps her hands full with a seventeen year old daughter and two cats…but more below!
What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?
I really enjoy working events for the variety; no event is the same and I also love meeting new people.
When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!
When I’m not on the Lane you can find me walking at the park or hanging out with my daughter or cooking. I always say cooking is a form of meditation for me…it’s one of my fav things to do, I love trying new recipes.
Favorite restaurant or food?
My favorite food is Indian food! I love Pani Puri and Saag Paneer.
Name a place you love traveling to and why?!
My favorite place is Aruba! It has the best beaches!
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?
If I have a full day off I really enjoy hanging out with my partner, and getting to an early yoga class and meeting my friends for coffee.
…one of your favorite songs and why!
Right now my favorite song is “Fabulous” by Meek, and it’s just so good! No matter what life throws at you, you got to keep feeling fabulous.
If you could have your dream job – other than Laner of the Week – what would it be?
My dream job would be something like the late Anthony Bourdain: travel to eat in different countries.
What’s an essential part of your daily routine?
Essential part of my daily routine is coffee!
What life lesson did you learn the hard way?
A lesson I learned the hard way is that when people show you who they are, believe them.
When it comes to Spring rain…are you dancing in it or seeking shelter?
Dancing in it!
What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work as a Laner should the chance ever arise?
Oh this is a hard question but I would love to represent the brand Spiritual Gangster. I love their clothing and when I hit a workout goal I emailed them, and they actually emailed me a gift card! Made me love the brand even more.
How do you stay inspired?
To stay inspired, I say yes to things that scare me a little and I’m always down to try something new. I also hangout with people that make things feel possible.
