Our Laner of the Week, Michelle, was originally born and raised in the SF Bay Area! She considers herself a very avid traveler, having visited 47 states, 60ish countries, and all seven continents! Amidst those travels, Michelle lived in NYC for about 20 years and had the privilege of working with a non-profit, helping adults with intellectual disabilities. She also spent time as an operations manager for a small art studio. “Very fulfilling work during my tenure in nyc!” Michelle also loves painting (mixed media), journaling, and visiting National Parks. “Come to think of it, I’ve been to about 240 out of 430 units! I just love traveling and learning something new.” Since she recently relocated back to the Bay Area, Michelle is spending time with family, making new friends and learning to enjoy commuting by car. 😉 Get to know more about this awesome Laner below!
What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?
I really enjoy the staff I encounter at Mustard Lane events. Professional, friendly, and knowledgeable BAs who believe in teamwork! I also think Mustard Lane’s branding is super cute “Dijon Express”

When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!
Reacquainting myself with the Bay Area, so many things have changed…so many new places to visit and revisit with new eyes. I recently went to the Presidio’s New Tunnel Tops National park unit. What a great addition to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
Favorite restaurant or food?
I’m really missing this cafe in NYC called “Crepes on Columbus.” They have the most amazing Tuna Melt Sandwich and they make crepes which are awesome for dessert. It’s one of my favorite restaurants and I take any opportunity to let people know.
Any goals for the rest of 2026?
I have a trip planned to go see my best friend in Spokane, WA. We have tickets to see one of my favorite singers, Paula Cole. I also plan to go to NYC to see my friends this fall. I will probably go have that Tuna Melt at “Crepes on Columbus.“ 🙂
If you could travel anywhere in the world – that you haven’t already been to! – where would you go, and why?!
New Zealand has been on the top of my list for years. But the world has so much to offer in terms of travel and tourism. Would love to visit the Galapagos and also take a trip around the world over the course of a few years by sea and land. A luxury safari in East Africa would also be amazing…This is a hard question! 😆
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?
Taking a day trip with a friend or my mom. I love visiting National Parks or Regional Parks – well, parks in general. The Bay Area has so many opportunities to stroll and have great views.
Fave movie you’ve seen recently?
“Once”… really broken up by the sudden passing of Glen Hansard.
If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?
Something that involved travel and people. Any ideas? I haven’t figured that out yet. 😉
What’s an essential part of your daily Laner routine?
Skincare! Everyone should invest in a little skincare when they approach 30. Your future self will thank you! I promise.
What has working events/freelancing taught you?
To be humble. It’s a privilege to represent agencies and brands. I have also been able to apply all my experience in customer service, office operations, and personal travel to really stand out with client interactions. It’s always a pleasure to connect with people on various levels to ensure they have a good time.
Summer has officially ended…any fun trips that happened?!
I spent Labor Day Weekend on the coast! I do love visiting the California Coast.
Pool or Beach?
Walk on the beach, swim in a pool!
What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work as a Laner should the chance ever arise?
Any travel related brands. Airlines, hotels, luggage, etc. I’ve owned my travel pro carry-on bag for 25 years!
What inspires you most?
My mother inspires me to be generous and not to give up when life knocks you down. My grandmother inspired me to be kind and work hard. They inspire me the most.
Any advice for someone starting out on the Lane and wanting to work events?
You have to be flexible and go with the flow. Events don’t always go as planned, so it’s best to keep an open mind and pivot! Try everything to find your favorite type of events and agencies. There’s something for everyone!
