Our Laner of the Week is originally from Chicago, currently living in the greater Seattle area. Melissa is a stand-up comedian, Reiki Master and promotional model. Whew! A Laner of many talents! As if that isn’t enough, she’s also a single bird-mom of two very cute little parakeets. Could there be even more to Melissa? …you bet!
What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?
I really enjoyed working PAX West this year. It was fun being a Team Lead and working with a great brand. It’s always nice to have fun while making sure the patrons have a great experience, as well.
When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!
You can find me at an open mic.
Favorite restaurant or food?
Take me out for a steak dinner and I’m a happy girl. Or a really good beef sandwich baptized in juice.
What is one of your goals for 2024?
Explore, explore, explore all the things I haven’t seen yet in the PNW.
Name your favorite place you’ve traveled to, and why!
NOLA was amazing! So much history there and culturally you feel like you’re in a different country. I also liked all the haunted spots, architecture and food.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?
At home doing self-care or exploring a new neighborhood.
Do you have a favorite concert-going experience? Tell us!
Lollapalooza 2015. I won free VIP Platinum tickets: unlimited free food and drinks. I saw Metallica, Paul McCarthy and so much more.
What’s your hidden talent?!
I have a scarily good memory.
If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?
Comedian, paid and traveling.
What’s an essential part of your daily Laner routine?
My skincare routine.
It’s Fall! Halloween or Thanksgiving? … or…both?!
Halloween all the way!
Favorite Fall activity or tradition?
Going to a pumpkin patch.
What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work as a Laner should the chance ever arise?
Any kind of music festival!
What life lesson did you learn the hard way?
You’re parents don’t know what they’re doing and are wrong more than they are right.
What inspires you most?
Independent women who do things on their own, march to the beat of their own drum, and don’t listen to what anyone else has to say if they don’t want to.
