Matthew Osuna Senn is our Laner of the Week, and he hails from Burnsville, MN, though Mazatlan, Mexico is his second home. With a love of surfing, drumming, and writing stories, there’s rarely a dull moment! He’s currently working on an upbeat comedy show and a children’s book. Pretty neat, huh?! Let’s see what else Matthew’s been up to…
What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?
Every gig is totally different. It’s a new venue with new face and different tasks. Being a BA is great if you like working with people and perfect if you love working with people. 😉 Just talk to people, give them free stuff, and make their day! What could be more fulfilling?
When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!
Playing Basketball, singing songs and seeing new cities with my friends.
Favorite restaurant or food?
Andiamos in Eagan is affordable and was rated the best Italian food in MN (for good reason).
What is one of your non-Laner goals for 2024?
Keep doing exactly what I’m doing. If my second half of 2024 is as good as the first half then it would be a perfect year!
Name a place you’d love to travel to, or your favorite place. And why?!
I want to travel more but my second home is beautiful. Mazatlan is so pretty that when my friends and cousins from there come see Miami or New York they are disappointed. Mazatlan is such a fun and underrated place to be.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?
Hanging out with my friends making goofy videos, going to the mall or having a beach day.
Favorite media you’ve consumed recently?
My brother makes fun of me for my trash taste in music and I get that it’s bad but nothing gets me more energized than Falling in Reverse recently.
What’s your hidden talent?!
I can lift 10,000 pounds!
If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?
Hard to say…I’d love to be in Sales, but a job that I would do for little to no pay would be writing a funny TV show because to know that what I’m making is helping people laugh who had a hard day and that my show is making their day just a little better is more than rewarding. Otherwise, I’d love to start a nonprofit that would end food insecurity and reduce food waste in restaurants.
What’s an essential part of your daily Laner routine?
Drumming and Exercising, because those two things make me feel proud of myself and reduce my energy. I really do think that I’ve never gotten angry on a day where I’ve drummed and exercised.
What life lesson did you learn the hard way?
After going to eight different schools, I realized that I shouldn’t worry about why people may not like me. If I’ve done nothing to hurt them then sometimes people just aren’t gonna get along with you and that doesn’t mean they are better than you. It simply means you guys aren’t on the same wavelength.
Fall is fast approaching! …Thanksgiving or Halloween? ..or both?!
As much as I love getting free food on Thanksgiving, I’d much rather avoid hearing my racist uncle’s latest rant, so…Halloween!
Favorite Fall activity?
Valley Scare is on the top of my list. I love rollercoasters, and adding skeletons and smoke makes it all the more scary-fun!
What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work as a Laner should the chance ever arise?
Any music festival event. I’m so jealous of my friends who’ve worked them!
What inspires you most?
My friend because he has more confidence than anyone I know and he is ridiculously funny. He is also highly motivated to reach any goal he sets forth. I strive to be like him everyday.
