Julie, our Laner of the Week, is a New Yorker with roots in Boston, SoCal, and Ho Chi Minh City. She’s worn many hats over the past 15 years—tech, finance, hospitality, events—you name it! Alongside acting, hosting, and brand consulting, Julie is relaunching a startup called BubbleTable with her husband in 2025, connecting diners with restaurants through curated wine experiences. When she’s not working, she’s all about storytelling—on stage, on screen, or creating fun content with her daughter on their family channel, House of Pham. Well! Believe it or not…there’s MORE!
What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?
The community! ML is full of talented, kind, and delightfully whimsical people. I love bouncing between intimate events and big productions, meeting new faces, and helping create those unforgettable moments for guests.
When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!
When I’m off the Lane, I’m either pounding the pavement in a 5K, 10K, or 20K, playing chauffeur to my daughter’s city adventures, hustling on BubbleTable, making social media magic, or training for whatever’s next—a marathon, a show, or a big event.
Favorite restaurant or food?
As a proud Vietnamese, pho and bánh mì will always be my comfort food (Cha Pa Grill in Midtown West never disappoints!), but my French side can’t resist a perfect baguette or buttery croissant—Miss Madeline on the UES is my happy place.
What is one of your goals for the rest of 2025?
Rewrite my screenplay Queen of Hearts and turn it from script to screen already!
Favorite place to travel to, and why?!
Vietnam holds a special place in my heart since I was born there. The country is full of beautiful people, delicious fresh food, and stunning landscapes—from mountains to beaches to buzzing city skylines. One of my favorite memories is celebrating a birthday on an island off Nha Trang—complete with seafood, karaoke, and the kind of adventure only Vietnam can deliver!
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?
These days, I crave quality time above all else—so my perfect day off is chilling at home with yummy food, fun company, some mind-bending board games, and, of course, ice cream sundaes to seal the deal.
Any fun concert or show that you’ve experienced recently?
Seeing MJ the Musical on Broadway was unforgettable—I’m a huge Michael Jackson fan, and it honestly felt like he was right there performing. Lately though, my daughter and I have been obsessed with K-Pop Demon Hunters—yes, we sing the songs around the house on repeat!
What’s your hidden talent?!
One of my hidden talents? Never giving up on chocolate—seriously, it’s my superpower.
If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?
To be the showrunner and lead of a series where a woman discovers her secret healing power just as she’s thrust into the spotlight of a globe-trotting food and travel show. Each episode blends magic, comedy, and culture as she learns the right dish can do more than feed the body…it can change destinies.
What’s an essential part of your daily Laner routine?
My day doesn’t officially start until I get a family cuddle in with my husband and daughter! Nothing beats extra love and kisses to kick things off right.
What life lesson did you learn the hard way?
That saying “yes” to everything leads to burnout. Learning to set boundaries has been one of my biggest growth points.
It’s freshly FALL! What are you most looking forward to this season?
I love fall in NYC! …the colorful foliage in Central Park, pumpkin spice lattes in hand, and the city decked out with Halloween decorations and lively parades. It all builds into the magical energy of the holiday season.
Trick or Treat…chocolate or candy?
Dark chocolate—always!
What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work for Mustard Lane should the chance ever arise?
The Olympics. Louis Vuitton with Pharrell. Or a meaningful cause with Global Citizen—dream gigs!
What inspires you most?
My inspiration comes from the incredible people I work with, the lessons I learn at every event, and—most of all—my daughter’s curious spirit. She pushes me to dream bigger, work harder, and create a legacy that reaches beyond myself.
Any advice for someone getting started in gig/event work?
Be open, proactive, and kind—and ready for those long days, no matter the weather. The best part? You’ll build amazing relationships and get to work with some really great brands along the way!
