Our LANER OF THE WEEK is Josh Canfield!

Matthew Borchers

Our Laner of the Week, Josh, is originally from Michigan. He got his Masters in Scotland and lived in England for awhile! Now, NYC is home, having been there for 13 years. Not only is he working on producing a new musical he wrote called, ALIVE! The Zombie Musical, (with a week-long concert version at an off-Broadway theatre in October!) but he’s also preparing to release his debut solo album, Songs I Wish I Heard. The newest single dropped on August 18th – have you listened?! Let’s learn some more about this Laner of the Week…

What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?

I like the flexibility of being able to choose when you are available to work and when you aren’t. I appreciate the other Laners at the events that have great attitudes and are enjoyable to work with.

When you’re not working as a Laner…what are you doing?!

I’m either working on my upcoming shows, at the gym, playing with my dog Lottie, at the beach, hiking upstate, or out at Happy Hour with friends.

Favorite restaurant or food?

Gonna have to say: all things Mexican! Give me margs, chips & salsa, and guac!

What is one of your goals for 2023 now that you’ve attained Laner of the Week status?

To have my debut album completed!

Name a place you’d love to travel to. And why?!

I recently found out through 23&me that I’m Swiss! So I want my next trip to be to Switzerland to explore my newly found homeland.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?

Taking the ferry to Far Rockaway beach!

Do you prefer podcasts or books? Favorite one?

Books. But I’m really enjoying the, SmartLess, podcast.

What’s your hidden talent?!

I don’t think any of them are hidden. haha!

If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?

A Broadway, TV, and Film writer.

What’s an essential part of your Laner of the Week daily routine?

Breakfast! Eggs, avocado, cheese, hot sauce, and salsa. Every morning.

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?

That I’m not always right, in fact, I’m usually wrong.

What is your favorite family/friend tradition?

My queer family members get together for a safe space to celebrate Christmas.

What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work as a Laner, should the chance ever arise?

Any that work in physical activity, like The Cliffs, or hiking/backpacking.

What inspires you most to be your best Laner of the Week self?

My friends 🙂
