Our LANER OF THE WEEK is Caroline Orlando!

Matthew Borchers

Our Laner of the Week, Caroline, is originally from Saugus, Massachusetts, just a few minutes north of Boston. She now resides in Brooklyn and loves it! She moved to the Big, Bad Apple to pursue theatre, and has already been in a few Off-Broadway productions! Caroline is also a member of the Usual Rejects, which is a comedy group that performs parody shows of popular movies. She’s also a part of Disastertown, the house improv troupe of the Chain Theatre in midtown Manhattan. We’re off to such a great start, why not keep going…

What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?

I am so happy to have found a community of artists within Mustard Lane that are all dedicated to their work at ML, as well as their own passions. So far, the gigs I’ve done have been with incredibly kind and ambitious individuals, which helps me feel excited about work as well.

When you’re not killin’ it as Laner of the Week…what are you doing?!

Doing improv with my troupe, running, or hanging with a glass of wine and a good book!

Favorite restaurant or food?

I LOVE FOOD! A few of my favorites in the city are Mermaid Inn, Veselkas, or La Boucherie.

What is one of your goals for 2023?

To start training for my first Marathon!

Name a place you’d love to travel to. And why?!

I would love to go to Sicily and trace my family’s roots.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?

Lounging, reading, and cooking 🙂

Do you prefer podcasts or books? Favorite one?

Always books! But my current favorite podcast is Smartless! Favorite book of all time is A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway

What’s your hidden talent?!

I love to paint! (I’m not very good but it brings me joy!)

If you could have your dream job tomorrow, other than being a Laner, what would it be?

Other than being able to sustainably work in theatre, I would love to be a sideline sports announcer or a theatre professor!

What’s an essential part of your daily routine?

Drinking lots of water.

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?

That you have to own up to your mistakes, no one will take that on for you.

What is your favorite family/friend tradition?

On birthdays, my family will call and purposely leave voicemails to sing happy birthday to one another (all 3 verses too!)

What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work as a Laner should the chance ever arise?

Would love to work with any type of athletic company/sports organization.

What inspires you most?

Making my parents proud.
