Carla, our Laner of the Week

Our LANER OF THE WEEK is Carla Vargas!

Matthew Borchers

Carla, our Laner of the Week, grew up in Arlington, VA and attended The George Washington University. She enjoys music and dancing, so you can find her going to concerts, trying new dance classes or attending a Flamenco show. Currently, she’s trying to learn new healthy recipes! Let’s read more about Carla…!

What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?

I enjoy working for Mustard Lane because they have fun events. They’re very responsive to my questions and professional. One of the best companies I’ve worked for by far!

When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!

I enjoy going on trips, hiking and hanging out with my friends.

Favorite restaurant or food?

Osteria Marzano…they have the best Italian food in Alexandria, VA.

What is one of your goals for 2024, now that you’re Laner of the Week?

To travel more! Specifically to plan a trip to the Turks and Caicos. It’s been on my list of places to visit for awhile.

Name a place you’d love to travel to…and why?!

Brazil was always on the top of my list. I went to Brazil for Carnival, and parasailed over the beach of Ipanema. We actually landed on the beach and all I remember the instructor saying is, “Make sure you land on your Bunda!”

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?

I enjoy self-care so getting a facial or enjoying a day spa.

What’s some media you’ve consumed recently that you enjoyed?

I attended a concert with Los Hermanos Gutierrez and it was amazing!

What’s your hidden talent?!

I wish I had a hidden talent to disclose but a fun fact about me is that I have been collecting Hello Kitty items since I was 10 yrs old. 😉

If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?

Working for an animal shelter/helping rescue animals..or owning a smoothie bar near a beach.

What’s an essential part of your daily Laner routine?

I like to start my mornings with a nice walk. Being outdoors always puts me in a good mood.

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?

Not allowing physical ailments to stop you from living life. Sometimes it really is a matter of perspective and finding the good in any situation.

Salty or Sweet?

Sweet!

What’s a brand or event you’d love to represent or work should the chance ever arise?

I would love to work for some of the beauty brands such as Sol de Janeiro or Rare Beauty. Anything beauty related I’d enjoy!

What inspires you most?

My mother…she taught me about having a good ethic and always making sure you leave a good impression with everyone you meet. She is 77 yrs old and still works!
