Our LANER OF THE WEEK is Tasha Stevenson!

Matthew Borchers

This Laner was born and raised in DC, but recently became a resident of PR! Yes, Puerto Rico! A lover of books (romance novels, poetry books & memoirs), cooking (her first love, having graduated from Culinary Arts School) and all things music (a concert/festival-goer), Tasha isn’t short of hobbies and passions!

What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?

Being introduced to this line of work 9 years ago, I could have never pictured this being my life. Although my background is in culinary arts, my passion to work in the restaurant industry declined. So I worked random jobs until I found my niche within the experiential field. Learning about marketing in every form, being introduced to brands and meeting new people constantly…it doesn’t get any better! What I love about M/L: they give everyone a chance and they take care of their staff. When you know that a company has your back, it automatically makes you want to go harder in all that you do.

When you’re not starring as Laner of the Week…what are you doing?!

Traveling!

Favorite restaurant or food?

Ice cream, bacon and wings all flats 🙂

What is one of your non-Laner goals for 2023?

To move to PR and I just made that happen in May!

Name a place you’d love to travel to. And why?!

London. It’s one of those places I feel like I’ll fit right in culturally although I’ve never been. Or maybe I have in my past life… Also, the music scene in London is booming! Some of my newly discovered fave musicians are Englanders.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?

Watch Nollywood movies or binge a drama-filled series, read a novel or create a dish while enjoying some tunes.

Do you prefer podcasts or books? Favorite one?

Books; anything by Jasmine Guillory, Angie Thomas or Rupi.

What’s your hidden talent (other than being a Laner of the Week)?!

Not sure if it’s a talent but I love DIY projects, so: crafting/decorating!

If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?

Food stylist-photographer.

What’s an essential part of your daily, Laner routine?

Prayer, showing gratitude as soon as I open my eyes, talking to God throughout the day. And then, gratitude for getting through the day before I close my eyes to end the evening.

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?

That people can not be happy for you because they’re not happy with themselves.

What is your favorite family/friend tradition?

Haven’t created any traditions yet…!

What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work should the chance ever arise?

I’ve been trying to get to SXSW for years now.

What inspires you most to keep being your best Laner of the Week self?

My parents. They’ve always put me and my brother first, and I’ve never seen them do things they enjoy. So, my living life to the fullest and taking chances is me showing them thanks for not limiting me and also, the possibility of things they can still accomplish.
