Meet Mikayla!! Our hustling and multi-talented NYC Laner! Mikayla is a performer as well has a digital marketer in New York. For a while, you could find her performing in SLEEP NO MORE and traveling out to Connecticut for musical theatre gigs at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre. As the World has changed a bit, so has Mikayla! When she is not performing, she works with nonprofit theaters on their digital marketing campaigns. She manages everything from their social media presence to their website and visitor analytics! What can this Laner NOT do?! She also spends time mentoring young kids in performing, writing plays, and public speaking. In her spare time she has been pursuing her certification to teach pilates as well! Wow! This Laner doesn't stop! And we just love having her on our team!
If you were a pie...what kind would you be?
Can I say quiche? Sometimes savory, sometimes sweet, usually utterly cheesy inside and out? Because that tracks for me.
What’s your favorite 90’s jam?
Oh I'm a Libra so how could I choose? "Believe" by Cher? My personal anthem. "What is Love" by Haddaway? Iconic. The DRAMA of "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O Connor? Or, pretending I'm in Cruel Intentions with "Bittersweet Symphony" by the Verve? Clearly I'm a fan of the thematic.
What is your dream vacation?
Anywhere by the water with an opportunity to breathe in sunlight, cool breeze, and skies. I’m writing this from Lake George and that is a premium example of what I mean.
How would your best friend describe you?
Well, I asked and surveys say: “Loyal, loving, caring, considerate, honest, funny, quirky as heck, and kind.” Color me FLATTERED.
What would we find in your fridge right now?
My Hungry Root as I make attempts to joy in cookIng, some homemade cold brew and kombucha, and copious amounts of cheese.
Who would play you in a movie of your life?
Jane Krakowski? Or can I play her instead? Definitely Jane. Though Rachel McAdams or Aubrey Plaza may be a rad choice.
What is your go to Karaoke song?
Valerie by Queen Amy Winehouse. But if the crowd seems like they could have a fun time, I can and I will pull out some Little Mermaid, Grease, “My Heart Will Go On”, or “What’s Going On” (Four Non Blondes).
Who was your childhood crush?
Probably Clay Aiken? LOL. Or, not quite childhood as I was 12....but....Matthew Macfadyen played Mr. Darcy in the Kiera Knightley "Pride and Prejudice. My girlhood was jazzed.
What would be your superpower and why?
Is it bad that I want to say reading minds because I’m endlessly curious about understanding the way humans think and I love information? I promise I’m not trying to creep, I’d just love to know what’s going on behind that facial expression, you know?
What is your cheat day meal?
Every day is my cheat day and they are my good, dear friends, Benjamin and Jerry.
What is your greatest attribute as a BA?
I’m a big fan of community and helping to facilitate positive, authentic experiences with everyone I meet. I think my skill set is based around that principle and it’s given me a lot of great opportunities to work well in any environment, which translates well working as a BA! Lots of new faces, lots of new collaborations and initiatives, and I love being in the middle of it all, helping to make it happen and making humans joyful in the process.
