Matthew Borchers is our Laner of the Week!

M / L
Originally from Saint Louis, Matthew has been with the Lane since 2015. His favorite gig was working with (insert client) where Laners were made up as a FULL-ON zombie for the Walking Dead season premiere, and limp around Madison Sq. Garden - in character - scaring fans and taking heinous selfies! When asked about his experience on the Lane Matthew said "I love that you sort of never know what you're gonna get, in the sense of: every gig is different! We hand out flyers, act as zombies, help promote apps and services at expos, demo/model products... it's always something new! (Which is great for us artistic folk because we can't stay stagnant too long.) But what I LOVE about that, is that the CONSTANT amongst all of it is the great people and the ability to come together and make it happen!" Outside the Lane Matthew is an entertainer! He's always busy dancing, singing, acting, you name it! He recently started a blogging project called @mattyluvs which you can check out on his website! Matthew also loves spending time meditating and journaling, you can head to his instagram @myinnerglow to check out this awesome space for people to come together and talk about all things about life!

Not a line per say, but someone once approached me while on tour, asking if I was in Dirty Dancing, because he loved the show and saw it the night before...we didn't have a show the night before... (it was a sweet attempt but unfortunately the jig was UP!)

Favorite restaurant/ best item on the menu?

Oh that's tough. I think I can honestly say I don't have a favorite in NY. There's just too many and they're all so good. But I LOVE a burger... and chips/salsa.. and a marg...or two...

Favorite movie/ why?

"The Wizard of Oz." Judy. Judy. Judy. There's just something so wonderful about that story. I think we can all relate to a time where we just wanted to escape to our dream-world, only to discover that happiness is right now! So many relatable elements in it... that's why it's still so beloved, nearly 80 yrs later!

What character have you always wanted to play?

I could play Baby John in West Side Story for the rest of my life. But... Evan Hansen has made it to the top of the list.

Favorite 90's jam

Gotta go with "Baby One More Time" by Britney Something that made you smile recently Flyering for ML... I worked with someone from St. Louis!! A new friend! We had fun figuring out where our paths were connected.

Celebrity crush

Ryan Reynolds. End of Story.

Your best halloween costume?

Well, one year in middle school I was a "Table for Two".. but this year I galavanted around in Lady Gaga's JOANNE look!

being unable to make complete thoughts/statements... haha

What would you do with 15 minutes of fame?

Oo. Bust my butt to get another 15. ;)

What is the most bizarre job you've done?

Well, I think that Walking Dead/zombie job could potentially qualify..

Most embarrassing moment

Oh I have one daily. But I'm definitely thinking of a performance of Little Shop of Horrors in high school... the scene where the shop is being remodeled... well, I closed the stepladder right in front of this big, white trellis, accidentally catching some of the flake flowers in the ladder. I went to take the ladder offstage and...well... The trellis came with it. We spent the rest of the song - trying to sing it, while also laughing - dealing with this trellis just collapsing over us. Fun times.

What flavor ice cream would you be and why?

Ben&Jerry's Boom Chocolatta Core. OMG IT'S SO GOOD. I want to be a source of AMAZINGNESS to everyone like it is for me.

What time period would you visit in history?

Oh. The forties into the fifties, for sure. I love the fashion, the social life, entertainment, and the war/post-war drive that people had.

What's the longest word you know? (NO GOOGLING)

supercalifragilisticexpialidocious ;)

Who do you look up to the most and why?

I'm inspired by so many wonderful people, but I think mom takes the cake. I just want that special "superhero pill" that only parents get offered! They manage to take care of everything, with love and support. Right?! How do they do it?
