Meet Lashmi!! Our smart and passionate Laner of the Week! A recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.A. in Communication and Spanish, this intelligent Laner loves working on creative projects. She is currently working on developing a Podcast called “Love on Ya Brain” which will be focused around the importance of mental health in the 20 somethings, especially around the Black and Latin communities. We love having her compassionate spirit on our team!
What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?
I love how each event is completely different from the last one, we get to learn so much during each shift, meet so many wonderful people on and off the team, and not to mention having fun while working. No one event I’ve worked was ever the same, so going to work feels like a box of chocolates, “you never know what you’re going to get”.
When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!
Currently I am training on zoom at Baron Brown Studio, a Meisner Technique School based in L.A. as part of my training to become a full time working actress. I am also in the middle of shooting a BFA student film with Emerson College students as one of the lead roles, and it has been one of my favorite sets to be on ever. For other work I am an Executive Assistant to the CEO of a M5-Productions, a film production company also based in L.A. where currently I am helping organize an outdoor film screening to help raise awareness of L.A. homelessness, as well as providing resources for those who may be unhoused.
Favorite restaurant or food?
I love sushi, pasta and seafood!
What is one of your goals for 2022?
To continue stepping out of my comfort zone and reconnect with my inner child.
Name a place you’d love to travel to. And why?!
Italy so I could live out my dream of eating authentic pasta and riding on the gondola.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
I love to watch a new movie with my partner and dog, or go out for a self care day, getting my nails done mostly.
Do you prefer podcasts or books? Favorite one?
hard choice but love a good book, I’m currently reading Dog Medicine by Julie Barton.
What’s your hidden talent?!
I can cook from scratch, shout out to my mom for those genes!
If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?
Being the lead role of my own TV/Movie set of a story I curated, like Issa Rae did with Insecure.
What’s an essential part of your daily routine?
Taking time to feed my soul through creative outlets like reading or journaling.
What is your favorite family or friend tradition?
In Hispanic culture, Christmas Eve is the biggest celebration with a lot of food, music and dancing with family. As a child it was such a comforting feeling to be around Dominican culture during the holidays and is a tradition I will keep going forever.
What inspires you most?
Seeing how people bring art and emotions to life creatively and authentically, being able to relate to those emotions produced brings me so much happiness.
