John Michals has been on the Lane over a year now. John's favorite ML event was working the The New York City Wine and Food Festival last year! John is one of our go-to baristi and just completed working at the US Open with Lavazza.
What do you love about the lane?
The community of passionate artists and creators who can come together and within minutes, consider themselves friends. It's been the most positive group of coworkers (and administrators/managers!) I've ever worked with.
What do you do outside the lane?
Generally, I am making stuff up somewhere. I write shows about things that I think I'd want to watch shows about (Mostly dragons). I also regularly perform improv around New York, usually at Reckless Theater. You can catch me there every Thursday at 11!

I definitely want Dan Harmon to pat me on the shoulder and tell me I'm gonna "go places."

Capybara. You need to meet me and look at a picture of them to understand.
Best pick up line you've heard?
"If you remove the 'D' from your name, it spells Arkansas. So I guess what I'm saying is, do you want the "D?"
So, to start, the girl's name has to be Kassandra for this to work. And I get that this one might be a little inappropriate, but I think there's a lot of good nuance to it. It proves you're smart enough to make an anagram on the spot, and while they're busy thinking about it, you prove you're actually a typical piece of garbage! Out of nowhere! So good. If you guys don't wanna put this one in there, it's totally cool, I get it.
If a movie was made about your life, what actor would play you?
I'd do Taylor Lautner a huge favor and let him redefine himself as an actor.
Favorite restaurant/ best item on the menu?
Burger It Up! in East Williamsburg. Best burgers, plus the owner is always there and he always wants to talk about Puerto Rican liquor.
What character have you always wanted to play?
Any sith lord from Star Wars. One that starts with a mask.

I went door-to-door selling alarm systems. Never have I convinced people to hate me so fast and efficiently.
