The Client

This summer the Laners have been busy bees working with The New York Food Truck Association (NYFTA). NYFTA connects local food trucks & carts to potential business opportunities, bringing local mobile food vending to the New York City Area! They have a team of diverse mobile culinary artists throughout all 5 boroughs of NYC. NYFTA produces a one-of-a-kind memorable food truck experience that Mustard Lane is proud to be a part of! We have worked with NYFTA on several activations including Twitter, A+E, NYSE and many more. One awesome event we're working on this summer with them is the Hot Dog Bus at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The Event

Every weekend this summer Laners are at the park helping to hand out free hot dogs to park-goers. The Laners are line managing and greeting guests so stop by to say hi & get a free hot dog! They're at Pier 1 on Saturdays and Pier 5 on Sundays from 12-6pm every weekend until August 26th. This is a free installation presented by Public Art Fund, an independent non-profit based in New York City that brings contemporary art exhibitions to public spaces across the city, for all for free. To check out more about the event head to the website: Erwin Wurm: Hog Dog Bus.

The Background

Austrian sculptural artist Erwin Wurm created the Hot Dog Bus, the sculpture is placed in one of New York City’s most popular summer destinations, Brooklyn Bridge Park. This modified, vintage Volkswagen Microbus was transformed into a bright yellow, overstuffed food truck.  Free hot dogs are being served to visitors all summer, hinting at the gastronomic connections between the City’s most iconic street food and the artist’s Austrian homeland.
