Ethan Scott is Our Laner of the Week!

M / L
Ethan Scott has been on the Lane for about six months. So far Ethan's favorite gig has to been the JianPuai mascot activation at the New York Stock Exchange! The Laners had the opportunity to explore the inside of the historic NYSE while guiding fellow Laners in cartoon bull costumes around for photo-ops and giveaways! To check out the live stream from that day, click here. When asked about working on the Lane Ethan said, "I love the family vibe! Everyone on the Lane is a team player, here to help everyone towards a common goal, build a brighter future, all while cracking some jokes and keeping a smile. I love it. I've been with the Lane for just around 6 months now, and have already formed lasting friendships, new work and business opportunities, and taken full advantage of the flexible work schedule that allows us to pursue our true passions!" Outside the Lane Ethan is a professional beatboxer, painter, graphic designer, actor, improvisor, teacher, and vintage clothing reseller! He loves doing as much as possible in his life, constantly fine-tuning his skills or filling up on articles, documentaries, poetry - with the end goal being to live a full life, full of persistence, passion, and purpose. Needless to say, Ethan can't sit still and enjoys working every day, and being able to explore NYC! Ethan once taught a beatbox lesson to employees at McKinsey & Company, one of the largest management consultant firms in the world. You can check him out at exactobbx.com or on Instagram @exactobbx.

Blue vs Yellow?

Yellow

What famous person would you want to meet?

Sheryl Sandberg

What is your spirit animal and why?

Fox: I have always felt this way, moving through my environment swiftly and aware, as well as being very protective of my own. Some consider the fox to be sneaky, I prefer clever :)

Best pick up line you've heard?

I don't chill at bars.

If a movie was made about your life, what actor would play you?

Director: Wes Anderson or Harmony Korine, Actor: Tom Hardy

Favorite restaurant/ best item on the menu?

The Veggie Burger at the Matchbox Cafe in Rhinebeck, NY is insane.

Favorite movie/ why?

Lost in Translation for every reason: one of the best soundtracks, Scarlett Johansson is beyond words, Bill Murray essentially plays himself and I love it, the cinematography is perfect, and above all else, the plot is one I greatly associate with - the epitome of angst, new relationships, and obtuse tension in a foreign land. I watch this film once a year. A close second is Gummo by Harmony Korine.

What character have you always wanted to play?

Hank Hill

Favorite 90s jam

La Bouche - Be My Lover This.

Celebrity crush

No Crushes. Though Claire Elise Boucher and Julie Budet rule.

Your best halloween costume?

I have literally never made a Halloween costume.

Morning or night person?

Night time is the right time.

What's your hidden talent?

From what I'm told: writing

What would you do with 15 minutes of fame?

Systematically support as many people as possible - thank everyone I've ever worked with by name and those who have influenced my work, wear a piece of clothing from a friend's clothing line, start a campaign to build male allies in company culture, ask people to eat their veggies, all the good things.

What is the most bizarre job you've done?

One quasi-bizarre and yet awesome gig I did recently was actually with Mustard Lane, going to a concert and dancing in the front to get others to dance along! That was a wild gig, a solid 3/4 hours of work just dancing to amazing music - this is what we get to do with Mustard Lane!!

Most embarrassing moment

I don't really get embarrassed, but I forget peoples' names all the time, that's always fun (I never forget a face though!).

What flavor ice cream would you be and why?

French Vanilla, because I'm straight to the point and a hopeless romantic.

Best thing that happened to you this week

I performed for 30 minutes and made $200 for a Catholic care company's holiday dinner!

What time period would you visit in history?

Now. Or a 1960s/1970s Jazz club in Harlem.

What's the longest word you know? (NO GOOGLING)

Photosynthesis

Who do you look up to the most and why?

My people - the cats who are constantly crushing it, making moves, bettering their lives in a positive manner and holding others up in the same light. I keep the best company I can, they are my family and my motivation. All of my friends range from tattoo artists and sculptors, to teachers and software engineers. As long as you are passionate and kind, we will click :)
