You heard that right: Deadpool variants in NYC! What kind of Halloween would it be without some enthusiastic Laners running around New York City in costume?! These gigs don’t come along everyday, but we always love when they do. Why not see what it was all about…?
Getting in Character
The team of Laners arrived onsite and were guided to the changing space with their costume pieces. You can imagine what the transformation must’ve been like! Wigs, hats, masks, props, Deadpool onesies…you name it. …and just like that! …Fifteen Deadpool variants! Of course, the look isn’t the only aspect involved. Our Laners were also provided with some example lines (as well as the Deadpool movies themselves) in order to help bring their version of the infamous Deadpool character to life.
Deadpool on the Edge
The Deadpool Variants first made their way to The Edge in Hudson Yards. (If you’re unfamiliar, this is an observation deck, with a protruding glass floor on the 100th story, and 360 degree city views!) Here, the gang was met with some other Deadpool influencers, as well as IGN, a video-game-review network. After a little Bye-Bye-Bye dance party – a la the opening sequence in the latest Deadpool movie – and some other content, our lil’ Deadpools made their way to get some lunch. Variants get hungry too!
A Deadpool About Town
Once Deadpool stomachs were full, it was time to paint the town ..black and red. Now, you may be wondering what this is really all about…Well, the latest Deadpool movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, just became available for digital download! Our Laners hit the streets of NYC to create a little stunt and awareness, as well as handing out some free download cards. And of course…lots of photo opps for the fans.
The Deadpool Variants hung out in Times Square, where they even got some hot dogs…as a Deadpool would! Then they made their way across town, to Grand Central Station – such an iconic NYC landmark. There was no shortage of Deadpool love found there, as large groups of fans approached the team. From there, the Variants were seen shopping for watches, celebrating a proposal, and oh! Did we mention that they had their very own NYC Tour Bus?! Yeah, Deadpool likes to travel in style while sight-seeing.
The day rounded out back on the west side, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. It just so happened to be the last day of Comic Con! Our Deadpools came across other Variants and cosplayers from all sorts of movies and comic books. They also came across…Leslie Uggams herself! (She’s in the Deadpool films!) After a nice photo moment with this star, the Deadpool Variants dispersed back into the world. They could be among us right now…
