Casting Tips/Tricks: PICTURES!

Matthew Borchers

Looking for some tips/tricks from Casting to help you choose your pictures? Well…look no further! Now, we see a LOT of different pictures come our way with Laner submissions. While there really isn’t a “wrong” way to go about your photos – as we consider the whole package – there are definitely certain things we’re looking for that will help the reception of your materials! So here’s some things we’re looking for that will set you apart! And if a video is more your style – jump right to it!

Tips and Tricks!

First and foremost, applying for a job means putting your best foot forward! And one element of our first impression of you that’s completely in your control is…your picture! Below we will go through some pointers on using your photo to make a great first impression.

• Believe it or not, this doesn’t mean you have to have professional headshots! If you do have professional headshots, amazing! Send those! But if not, it absolutely won’t count against you. We are specifically looking for a well-lit photo of the front of your face, framed above your waist (not a full body shot). Make sure we can see your face clearly – don’t be too far away in the photo, don’t wear sunglasses, and please make sure it is not blurry! Our phones can take some really lovely, high-quality photos!

• Preferably not a selfie! Have a friend take a quick pic of you in natural light or a well-lit space for your photo submission.

• Always best to have a SMILE! Brand Ambassador work is all about being approachable and engaging, and your photo should show us that you fit that description.

• Please be appropriate! When applying for a job, please do not send photos that are super revealing or suggestive (no bikinis or scantily clad photos please!) We need to know we can count on you to show up onsite in appropriate and professional attire, so it’s helpful to start putting that foot forward with your submission photos.

• If you are a model/specifically looking for modeling work with us, you are welcome to send photos that represent your modeling portfolio, but please also send us a regular headshot so we can still see your personality!

The more of these Casting Tips/Tricks you’re able to incorporate into your picture submission, the better we’re able to see YOU!

Casting Video: Picture Tips/Tricks

As promised, if a video is more your style – give this a watch! Make sure to catch the pointers at the end and give the caption a read too!
