This spring we replaced the famous ice rink at Rockefeller Plaza with some fresh May showers! If you’ve spent any time on the East Coast this spring, you’ll know there’s been no shortage of rain. When it comes to the world of events…sometimes that means things get cancelled! And sometimes…it means you’re working in the rain. Our NYC Laners recently braved the sprinkles, drizzles and downpours for two weeks in May!

Bienvenu!
Despite the rain, the activation itself was a nifty celebration of spring, presented by Van Cleef & Arpels – a French jewelry Maison! They are known the world over for their stone selection and mastery of craft, as well as using only natural stones – no exceptions! In collaboration with French Artist, Alexandre Benjamin Navet, the storied Maison celebrated the enchantment of Spring through a series of colorful installations. Navet created fun, sketch-like floral scenery to add to the garden setting at Rockefeller Plaza. There were even performances by Dance Reflections!

On weekdays, our Laners were there to promote the activation and encourage people to check out the festivities at Rockefeller over the weekend! …and on the weekends, they were there to manage lines, hand out sweet treats, tokens and more!
Persévérance
Sadly, the heavens opened up, and unto us a two-weeks-long monsoon was born. Even with umbrellas and jackets, there was no avoiding the wetness. These conditions are always less-than-ideal, and something we try to avoid when we can. It was definitely an ongoing conversation to make sure that all parties were staying on top of the weather and adapting as needed. However, we are so proud of – and thankful for – our Laners hangin’ in there. They got the job done! The art and other aspects of the installation were still enjoyed by the public. And hey – the sun even came out for the last few days!
