Our LANER OF THE WEEK is Acée Laird!

Matthew Borchers

Acée, our Laner of the Week, is from the vibrant city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was there that he began his artistic journey as a ballet dancer with the Milwaukee Ballet. After pirouetting his way through his younger years, he took a leap of faith and moved to the Big Apple! There he earned a BFA at Fordham University’s Alvin Ailey program. Now, after a decade of calling NYC home, Acée has danced through life’s various stages: from the world of logistics tech to the spotlight of acting, singing, and dancing. Now that we’ve got some backstory…let’s see what’s up in Acée’s world currently!

What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?

What I love about Mustard Lane and working events in general is the flexibility it offers. Having only worked a few gigs so far, I’m excited about booking more! Working events allows me to balance my financial needs with my artistic aspirations, giving me the freedom to continue my dream role search without sacrificing opportunities.

When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!

When I’m not on the Lane, I enjoy spending time at home with my husband and our dog, Juniper. I also take dance classes, participate in background work for films, and keep busy with auditions.

Favorite restaurant or food?

Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi – Caribbean food

Do you have any goals for 2025?

My goal in 2025 is to land a speaking role in film or television.

Favorite place you’ve traveled to… go!

Hobbiton – New Zealand.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

There are no days off in my world unless it’s a booked vacation.

Any media you’ve consumed recently that you really enjoyed?

I’m honestly a bit upset that no one ever mentioned the movie “Donnie Darko” to me. I just watched it for the first time this week, and it has quickly become one of my top five films of all time!

What’s your non-Laner hidden talent?!

I’d like to keep it hidden please.

If you could have your dream job tomorrow, what would it be?

If I could have my dream job tomorrow I would be working on set with Darren Aronofsky on Black Swan 2.

What’s an essential part of your daily routine?

An essential part of my day is making coffee and walking my dog. Both of these things need to happen in that order.

We’re in the middle of winter…what’s something you look forward to this time of year?

My birthday usually falls in the depths of winter, which means I get to celebrate in freezing style! Some years, I jet off to warm, sunny places, but when I stay in the city, I throw extravagant shindigs that turn winter into a fabulous celebration for my friends and me!

What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work on the Lane, should the chance ever arise?

I would love to work any fashion, TV, Film, and of course the US Open.

How do you stay inspired?

Staying inspired in this incredible city is easy because inspiration is everywhere you look! I love stepping out of my home and engaging in conversations with new people from all walks of life. Each encounter brings fresh perspectives and sparks creativity!
