Our LANER OF THE WEEK is Donald Paul!

Matthew Borchers

Donald, our Laner of the Week, is originally from Palm Beach, Florida, but he’s been living in New York for the past twelve years. A proud plant dad and a big sports enthusiast, he loves attending sporting events and staying connected to all things sports-related. When Donald’s not doing exciting work with Mustard Lane, he’s busy creating content! It’s also thrilling to share that he’ll be attending a few film festivals in the Spring of 2025 for projects he’s been fortunate enough to work on. We say it’s in your best interest to keep reading…!

What do you like about Mustard Lane or just working events in general?

The people and community at Mustard Lane are incredible. Everyone is so wholesome and easygoing, which makes working these events an absolute breeze. It’s amazing to be surrounded by such awesome individuals!

When you’re not on the Lane…what are you doing?!

When I’m not on the Lane, I’m usually diving into acting projects, keeping up with football and leagues that I’m a part of. I also love spending quality time with my family, and staying connected with friends.

Favorite restaurant or food?

Xi’an Famous Foods is my absolute favorite spot to eat at. I can’t get enough of good hand pulled noodles. I found this place 10 years ago and it’s still my favorite place.

What is one of your goals for 2025?

One of my main goals is to wake up a lot earlier and start my days sooner. Waking up earlier can set the tone for a productive and balanced day.

Favorite place you’ve been to…go!

I recently went to Panama and was pleasantly surprised. Panama is breathtaking because it offers the perfect blend of natural beauty, vibrant culture, and rich history. I went to the Panama Canal which was breathtaking to see. The Panama Canal is just a unique engineering marvel.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off from the Lane?

If it’s Sunday, you’ll usually find me catching up on football games and managing my fantasy football league or catching some good theatre.

Any fun media and/or art you’ve consumed recently?

I recently rewatched all of the Marvel movies all the way to “End Game.” It was so long but so fulfilling. Rewatching all the Marvel movies is such a journey, but there’s so much detail and character development that you can pick up on the second time around.

What’s your hidden talent?!

One of my hidden talents is playing the drums—I spent years honing my skills as part of a drumline while growing up.

If you could have your dream job tomorrow, besides Laner of the Week, what would it be?

I spent five years working with children with special needs, an experience that brought immense fulfillment and meaning to my life.

What’s an essential part of your daily routine?

Coffee! The first thing I do before starting my day is a good cup of coffee.

Favorite Late-Nite Snack?

Popcorn!

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?

Patience. It helps you make better decisions by giving you time to process situations thoughtfully rather than reacting impulsively. It also fosters stronger relationships because being patient allows you to truly listen and understand others, creating a foundation of trust and empathy.

Winter is in full swing…what’s something you look forward to this time of year?

I’m always looking for ways to stay warm and comfortable during the winter, it’s a challenge in New York! The winters here can be brutal, and trying to balance style with warmth isn’t always easy, but I do my best to make it work.

On a lighter note, I’m a big fan of a good Super Bowl party. There’s nothing better than enjoying great food, good company, and an exciting game, it’s one of my favorite traditions!

What’s a brand or event that you would love to represent or work as a Laner should the chance ever arise?

I was lucky enough to work at the Spotify event this year. As a music connoisseur, I’d jump at the chance to work that event again anytime!

What inspires you most?

Staying inspired comes from surrounding myself with things I’m passionate about. Sports also keep me motivated; the energy of a game and the stories of perseverance behind every athlete inspire me to keep pushing forward. Creating content is another big driver—it’s a way to channel my creativity and connect with others. And when I need an extra spark, I look to my arts community.
